Close your eyes, and I’ll tell you the story of the Zecchino d’Oro.
“There was once, and there still exists nowadays, an enchanted land closed in between very green mountains and very blue sea. This story takes place in Italy. Since ancient times, the secret for producing the most beautiful shoes has been kept here. Right in the heart of this corner of Paradise, in the region known as Marche, there’s a village called Monte San Giusto. It was in 1960, the year in which Pasquale Bisconti, an artisan with lots of imagination, performed an act of love and, together with his business partner, decided to turn his greatest dream into reality. In a modest workshop beneath the house, they started to exploit their valuable experience and their great enthusiasm for work, hour after hour, day after day, to bring to life lots of little masterpieces -an infinite number of lovely little shoes for children. One by one they were made by hand, and were extremely beautiful and comfortable, each of them designed and created to bring joy to the child who wore them The seeds for the Zecchino d’Oro had just been sown.”
The journey takes us very happily back to those beginnings, highlighting the quality and genuineness of a huge legacy of personal experience.
Under Cinzia Bisconti’s leadership, the dedication and meticulousness of the two original partners have turned it into a worldwide, leading edge business with products distributed in the best specialist shops.
That original gem of wisdom has, over the years, been nourished with new experience; it’s grown little by little, thanks to careful, constant research into style, and has evolved from generation to generation, while being enriched with contemporary taste and an international flavour.
And it has a name that’s now very well known to careful, sensitive mums and dads.
As you can easily imagine, the expert shoemakers at Zecchino d’Oro are still today handcrafting perfect, Italian shoes for children.
Refined, elegant styles, created exclusively with top-class materials: high-quality skins edged by hand for uppers and linings, leather for insoles with patented, sewn anatomical arch-supports in leather, and again real leather or rubber for the soles.
Each processing phase, each detail in their construction, and each clever little feature in their creation is inspired by a sense of perfection, to give the absolute comfort, freedom and naturalness that children’s feet deserve while they are growing.
This is why Zecchino d’Oro has become “one of the best expressions of children’s footwear”.

The Zecchino d’Oro 2010 Spring/Summer collection displays high-class selected and tested materials to promote total well-being. For little girls, there are some splendid sandals in plaited leather, suede or even python-skin. Extreme care is taken in the detail, with classy finishing touches: there are inserts, buckles, squaw-style fringes and imitation gemstone toe-caps, or multicoloured flowers printed on or applied, such as very precious roses. All these are in shades of fuchsia, lilac, pale rose, white or dark blue. Or there’s natural basic, also with cork soles. All these styles are characterised by their up-to-the-minute, unmistakeably Italian design.
There are ballet pumps in carefree canvas, shiny patent leather or elegant suede, for little girls who look after their image and who like wearing trendy shoes. For him, lace-up sneakers in real leather and denim guarantee maximum comfort, being strong but light and flexible at the same time. There are also navy moccasins, patent leather brogues and styles with a more urban flavour – striped, perhaps. Starting from a child’s very first steps, there are open sandals with strap fastening and ankle support in shocking colours, or the more classic baby shoes. They gently support the foot, ensuring protection and freedom of movement – and always with great style.
